THE FIRST SPACE FLIGHT


The collection contains one of the unique objects of the museum – the original landing apparatus of the spaceship “Sojuz-33” by which the first Bulgarian astronaut Georgi Ivanov and the Russian astronaut Nikolay Rukavishnikov landed on 12th April 1979. The rich photo material gives the visitor an opportunity to get familiar with the training and the realization of the flight. The collection is filled up also with some exhibits of the National Museum of History – temporarily displayed in the Aviation Museum: the astronaut’s suit of Georgi Ivanov, his parachute with an area of 1000 m2, the working suit and the emergency supply of the astronaut, appliances for space research etc.
